The Great THF Snipe Hunt Feb 12-13 2011

Met up this weekend with three other Texas Hunting Forum members and our dogs for an episode of Snipe hunting.

While exploring the boundary, what do we see?

All kinds of squeeling and barking. What is going on in the marsh to the right of Blaze's ear?

Zoomed in, it's Hog dogs with a Hog at bay.

Back to Snipe Hunting. The weekend provided as much Snipe shooting as we could stand. Great time had by all.

Yes this is my muddy Gun Dog Blaze and she is a Dork sometimes.

I'm usually the one behind the camera, so these are a nice addition

Gary practiced a little catch and release. The little Boar would try to bite his hand and kept going after Izzy. The guys were crossing a corner of a wetland cell to start a drive down one side of a long stretch of standing water. I was up on a levee moving around to be blocker at the end of it so I was too far away to take any pictures, but I could see what happened. Gary walked on a nest in the marsh with two big sows and piglets. One sow ran away, one came towards Gary. He fired shot in self defense, but nothing mortal to the hog. Then he noodled the piglet for a picture.

Gary got a nice picture of me shooting my #8 snipe for the day.
